Pre-lay Mooring and Rig Moves

REDUCING DOWNTIME, ADDING VALUE

PRE-LAY MOORING

Pre-lay mooring operations deliver powerful benefits for rig owners and operators. By installing mooring lines at drilling sites prior to rig arrivals, less rig time is used connecting and disconnecting to the system (compared to conventional rig moves). This reduces the necessary weather window for the move, along with the risk of ‘waiting on weather’. There is also no rig time spent resetting anchors.

Less time on the rig move translates to more time on operations – delivering significant cost benefits for our customers. In addition, a pre-lay approach negates the threat of anchor drag incidents.

Deep Sea Mooring is a leader in pre-lay operations. Our skilled, professional and highly experienced staff deliver complete pre-lay mooring systems, participating in operations from inception to completion to ensure success at every stage of rig relocations.

RIG MOVES

Deep Sea Mooring offers its clients the ultimate in experience, technology and safety when undertaking complex rig move operations, from inception to completion.

We understand that a rig’s mooring system is absolutely key to operational safety and success, and have based our entire business model on delivering the optimal results for individual client needs. Our expert personnel are driven by challenges, focused on solutions and empowered by the highest quality equipment in the marketplace.

Exerting complete control over all tasks is an acknowledged priority, and that extends seamlessly to the monitoring of our entire equipment stock.

Every individual component we use is subject to our rigorous in-house system, which logs a complete history of use and certification. We combine tracking and logistics tools with our own unique equipment marking solution, ensuring that our customers can trace, and quickly see the location of, every component in the as-build mooring spread.

In addition, we have a custom-built online solution allowing relevant personnel to log on to see as-planned and as-build drawings, equipment certificates, and further project-specific information.

By providing such a comprehensive overview, we believe we can work towards delivering complete success on each individual project.

Marine Engineering

MARINE ENGINEERING EXPERTICE

TRUST THE EXPERTS

Deep Sea Mooring can rely upon a team of first-class engineers to deliver a wide variety of hydrodynamic analyses using state-of-the-art computer software. To achieve an optimal mooring design, or simulate marine operations, Deep Sea Mooring can carry out all necessary engineering work with our specialists in marine hydrodynamics.

MOORING AND DYNAMIC POSITIONING ANALYSIS:

We perform analysis for catenary moored structures, thruster assisted mooring and dynamic positioned structures. The simulations are performed in the frequency or time domain and can be done quasi-static or including dynamic effects.

Typical applications:

  • Mooring system design
  • Estimation of limiting sea states and operability for the operation
  • Feasibility studies
  • Optimization of mooring systems

VESSEL MOTION ANALYSIS:

We perform wave interaction analysis for obtaining the wave forces acting on the floating structure added mass, damping, RAOs (Response Amplitude Operators) and second order wave drift coefficients.

For floating structures in the vicinity of each other we also do multi-body hydrodynamic analysis to take into account hydrodynamic interaction.

Typical applications:

  • Input to linear and non-linear dynamic analysis
  • Optimization of vessel design
  • Identifying hydrodynamic interaction

ANALYSIS OF COMPLEX MARINE OPERATIONS:

We perform non-linear analysis in the time domain of complex marine operations.

Mooring Equipment

RENTING THE BEST, FROM THE BEST

BEST EQUIPMENT, BEST CHOICE, BEST RESULTS

Deep Sea Mooring invests in the highest quality equipment, sourced from renowned industry suppliers and certified to the most stringent standards. By investing in excellence from the outset we have the optimal foundation for all operations. And so do our clients.

Alongside undertaking entire, full-service assignments, we also rent a comprehensive range of mooring equipment to support complex mooring operations.

All our equipment is subject to a rigorous inspection maintenance regime, offering the quality and level of reliability the industry associates with DSM.

Our main categories of equipment are:

Anchors ANCHORS
A variety of Ultra High Holding Power anchors for mooring mobile offshore units and other floating installations in different seabed conditions. The anchors are certified according to DNV and are also incorporated with DIGIN software for geotechnical analysis of anchor behaviour and holding capacity.
Chains CHAINS
Grade R4 and R5 mooring chains of several dimensions, sourced exclusively from renowned manufacturers, such as Ramnäs Bruk (Sweden), Hamanaka Chain (Japan) and Vicinay Cadenas (Spain). All our chains are certified according to DNV-OS-E302.
Swivels SWIVELS
Wide range of slide and roller bearing swivels for mooring lines and anchor handling purposes, with up to 858 tonnes minimum breaking strength. The swivels are designed to operate at water depths down to 2000m.
Mooring Connectors MOORING CONNECTORS
A wide range of connectors - including kenter links, trident anchor shackles, shackles, adapters, and much more. The connectors are certified in accordance with DNV-OS-E302 to match the quality of our mooring chains.
Buoys BUOYS
Wide range of surface and deep water rated subsurface modular buoyancy units. The buoys can be combined to meet the exact requirement for buoyancy and come complete with fittings for wires, fibre ropes and chains.
Fiber Ropes FIBRE ROPES
Up to 858 tonnes minimum breaking strength fibre rope inserts of varying lengths. Our fibre ropes are certified by DNV according to DNV-OS-E303. The ropes are widely used to reduce weight and increase mooring line elasticity to achieve an optimal mooring solution. The ropes also reduce risks where lines are crossing subsea infrastructure.
Wires WIRES
Mooring line wire inserts, pennant wires, PCPs (permanent chaser pendants), etc. Our wires come from renowned suppliers and are terminated with sockets to match the highest standards for handling and mooring purposes.
Hooks HOOKS
All necessary hooks to carry out complex pre-lay and rig move operations, such as J-lock and J-hooks, ROV hooks, grapnel hooks and our hydro acoustic subsea release hook.
