Pre-lay mooring operations deliver powerful benefits for rig owners and operators. By installing mooring lines at drilling sites prior to rig arrivals, less rig time is used connecting and disconnecting to the system (compared to conventional rig moves). This reduces the necessary weather window for the move, along with the risk of ‘waiting on weather’. There is also no rig time spent resetting anchors.
Less time on the rig move translates to more time on operations – delivering significant cost benefits for our customers. In addition, a pre-lay approach negates the threat of anchor drag incidents.

VESSEL MOTION ANALYSIS:
We perform wave interaction analysis for obtaining the wave forces acting on the floating structure added mass, damping, RAOs (Response Amplitude Operators) and second order wave drift coefficients.
For floating structures in the vicinity of each other we also do multi-body hydrodynamic analysis to take into account hydrodynamic interaction.

All our equipment is subject to a rigorous inspection maintenance regime, offering the quality and level of reliability the industry associates with DSM.
Our main categories of equipment are:
ANCHORS A variety of Ultra High Holding Power anchors for mooring mobile offshore units and other floating installations in different seabed conditions. The anchors are certified according to DNV and are also incorporated with DIGIN software for geotechnical analysis of anchor behaviour and holding capacity.
CHAINS Grade R4 and R5 mooring chains of several dimensions, sourced exclusively from renowned manufacturers, such as Ramnäs Bruk (Sweden), Hamanaka Chain (Japan) and Vicinay Cadenas (Spain). All our chains are certified according to DNV-OS-E302.
SWIVELS Wide range of slide and roller bearing swivels for mooring lines and anchor handling purposes, with up to 858 tonnes minimum breaking strength. The swivels are designed to operate at water depths down to 2000m.
MOORING CONNECTORS A wide range of connectors - including kenter links, trident anchor shackles, shackles, adapters, and much more. The connectors are certified in accordance with DNV-OS-E302 to match the quality of our mooring chains.
BUOYS Wide range of surface and deep water rated subsurface modular buoyancy units. The buoys can be combined to meet the exact requirement for buoyancy and come complete with fittings for wires, fibre ropes and chains.
FIBRE ROPES Up to 858 tonnes minimum breaking strength fibre rope inserts of varying lengths. Our fibre ropes are certified by DNV according to DNV-OS-E303. The ropes are widely used to reduce weight and increase mooring line elasticity to achieve an optimal mooring solution. The ropes also reduce risks where lines are crossing subsea infrastructure.
WIRES Mooring line wire inserts, pennant wires, PCPs (permanent chaser pendants), etc. Our wires come from renowned suppliers and are terminated with sockets to match the highest standards for handling and mooring purposes.
HOOKS All necessary hooks to carry out complex pre-lay and rig move operations, such as J-lock and J-hooks, ROV hooks, grapnel hooks and our hydro acoustic subsea release hook.

STATE OF THE ART ASSET MANAGEMENT SERVICES
From our dedicated bases in Norway, UK, Australia and Singapore, supported by our tailored asset management system, we keep track of all mooring components throughout their lifetime. By electronically marking all our equipment, including both RFID chips and QR codes on our easy to read yellow bands, we ensure that all mobilised equipment has the required certification and quality to uphold the technical integrity that is required for mooring equipment. Every activity, spanning from inspections and maintenance, re-certification (we are an approved service supplier by DNV GL) to mobilisation and demobilisation, for every single component is accurately logged and easily retrieved online. On our bases we focus on an efficient flow of equipment, and having highly skilled professionals ensure safe handling and proper storage, handling, inspections and maintenance.
DEEP SEA INSPECTION
Deep Sea Mooring’s subsidiary Deep Sea Inspection carries out inspection of chain and other steel mooring components in accordance with DNV-OSS-101/102. Deep Sea Inspection AS is a DNV GL certified supplier of inspection services.
